Saturday, August 11, 2012 - Lahore—Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has vowed to put the province on the path to progress and prosperity before the next elections.

Talking to parliamentarians including Member National Assembly Haji Akram Ansari, MPAs Haji Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Rao Kashif Raheem Khan, Shehryar Riaz and Mian Yawar Zaman who called on him here Friday, he said the goal of progress and prosperity of the country could only be achieved by the provision of basic education and health facilities. He said ensuring prosperity of Pakistan and bringing the less-fortunate segments of society into mainstream of progress were basic aims of the politics of the PML-N.

He said that mega development projects had been completed, especially in the less-developed areas of the province during the last four years which had benefited the common man.

The chief minister called upon the elected representatives to keep a vigilant eye on the quality of development projects alongwith playing their effective role in timely completion of the projects in their respective constituencies.

Meanwhile, Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that inspection teams of the department were inspecting Ramazan bazars and local markets to ensure the provision of food items according to approved weights and measurements.

He further said the labour department was implementing the directions of the Punjab chief minister regarding weights and measurements across the province.

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that if Pakistan is to be saved, than the country would have to be rid of the Zardari gang, as the incompetent leaders have not given anything to the masses, except loadshedding, inflation, poverty, and unemployment.

He said the corrupt gang has now been unmasked, while the nation will make Zardari gang vigorously accountable for its deeds, in the forthcoming general elections. He said corruption, nepotism and ‘safarish’ culture has brought the country to the brink of disaster, while politics and democracy have been defamed in the name of reconciliation.

He said that failure of incompetent and corrupt government can not be termed as failure of democratic system itself. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that today the people are living in darkness while the loot, plunder and dark deeds of Ali Baba & Forty Thieves are continuing and new records of corruption are being set.
