‘PPP for Balochistan uplift’


Tuesday, August 07, 2012 - Islamabad—Senator Suraya Amiruddin said that Pakistan Peoples Party government after coming into power took many initiatives for the development of Balochistan. She said that PPP government took several steps to end sense of deprivation being felt among the people of Balochistan. Suraya said that credit goes to the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party for providing Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package to the people of this neglected part of the country. Talking to Pakistan Television channel, she said that several important points of this package have been implemented in a befitting manner.

She said that demand of Balochistan province for enhancing its share in the NFC Award has been fulfilled. Replying to a question, she said that some foreign forces are trying to create unrest in this strategically important part of the region. She said that a six-member committee constituted by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, would visit Balochistan in a couple of days to review the situation and meet the people of the area.

She said that the committee would also take steps to address the issues of Balochistan people. Replying to another question, she said that there is need to involve all stakeholders including local heads of Baloch, social, political and religious people so that the problem of this area could be resolved in a proper manner. She said that President Asif Ali Zardari has taken personal interest in the uplift of Balochistan province.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Human Rights Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar on Monday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led government took several steps for women empowerment.
