Commissioner for uninterrupted provision of essential daily use items

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 - Lahore—Commissioner, Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik has said that the uninterrupted provision of essential items of daily use has been ensured due to which the utility of Ramzan Bazars has been increased.

He expressed these views while reviewing the reports regarding the Ramzan Bazars at his office, here today. He said that no compromise was made on the quality of essential items of daily use especially vegetables, fruit, flour, sugar and meat in the Ramzan Bazars and strict actions was being taken against the manufacturers and sellers of substandard essential items. He informed that situation had also remarkably been improved owing to the introduction of complaint cell (Zimadar Shehry) at Ramzan Bazars.

The Commissioner said that the price control committees and price Magistrates constituted by the CDGL were playing their active role by maintaining balance in the demand and supply, high quality and stability of prices of essential items in the Ramazan Bazaars. He said that prompt action was taken on any complaint if received from anywhere. The Commissioner further informed that so far as the prices of the fruit, vegetables and other essential items of daily use were concerned, the bidding process in the wholesale market was strictly being monitored and the role of the middleman was being finished. He said that the difference of prices of commodities at open market and that at the Ramazan Bazaars had conspicuously been displayed at the bazaars and the classification of grade-1 & grade-2 of essential items had been abolished so that there might not be any ambiguity.

The Commissioner said that it had already been made clear to the Incharges of Ramazan Bazaars that they would be responsible to ensure the uninterrupted supply, low prices.
