Syed Ali Geelani arrested in Srinagar
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, said that India was continuing with its policy of massacre of Kashmiris to suppress their struggle for securing their inalienable right to self-determination. He said that the Kashmiri people were being killed randomly and deplored that the international community was not playing its due role regarding Jammu and Kashmir. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, addressing a big demonstration at Hajan Chowk warned that mass level protests would be launched if the state terrorism was not stopped in the territory. People on the occasion raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans.
Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, at a public gathering in Budgam said that India could not dampen the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment by resorting to killings, arrests, torture and other repressive measures. APHC leaders, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Abdur Rasheed Untoo and Abdul Majeed Wani, addressing a gathering in Chewdara area of Badgam and Syed Bashir Andrabi at Maatrigam in Pulwama said that the ongoing liberation movement would be taken to its logical end against all odds.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities placed Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Farooq Ahmed Dar under house arrest. The Indian police took Zafar Akbar Butt along with another Hurriyet leader into custody while they were on their way to address a public gathering in Tral.—KMS
