Gilani’s forum: SOG men harassing Tral residents

Saturday, August 04, 2012 - Islamabad—The forum patronised by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader in Indian Occupied Kashmir Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the personnel of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Indian police are harassing the residents of Tral. The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the SOG men enter the villages in the disguise of mujahideen and harass the residents, KMS reported.

“They enter the villages in groups and seek accommodation from the residents. Then they (SOG) beat them (residents) up,” he said. In a separate case, the spokesman said that an Indian army Major posted at Hyderbeig camp in Pattan had been harassing the youth in the area by forcing them to visit the camp.

“The Major heads a patrol party to the nearby villages and grabs the identity cards of innocent youths. They are then summoned to camp where they are beaten up and humiliated, and then directed to pay regular visits,” he said. Te spokesman said that the forum would submit to the Amnesty International the names of the SOG’s DSP and the army Major.

He said that the forum had decided to bring the atrocities to the notice of the Human right organizations, and for now the names were being forwarded to the Amnesty International.—APP
