SAFMA, NPC organize joint seminar on media


Saturday, July 21, 2012 - Islamabad—The South Asian Free Media Association and National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad on Friday jointly organized a seminar on “strengthening local media through press clubs ensuring, accountability, transparency and security of journalists”. A large number of journalists from print and electronic media attended the seminar.

Senior journalist Zia-ud-Din was the chief guest on the occasion while NPC President Farooq Faisal Khan presided over the seminar. Farooq Faisal Khan addressing on the occasion said that the NPC would organize more events of this kind for the journalists community. He asked the participants to give their proposals for resolving the problems being faced by journalists.

Zia-ud-Din said that journalism was basically a mission and it should be practiced as a mission. He said that the journalists should focus on the professionalism and improve their skills to deliver in a better way.

He said that in his 50-year experience, he faced similar challenges, highlighted by the participants.—APP
