Zardari stresses focus on youth skills

Saturday, July 21, 2012 - Karachi—President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday witnessed foundation stone laying ceremony of Bibi Aseefa Institute of Electronics & Vocational Training (AIVET) - a constituent institutes of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari. Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers and others also witnessed the ceremony. Bibi Aseefa Institute of Electronics & Vocational Training is being established, to be a constituent of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL) working under Faculty of Electronic Engineering, will have 10 innovative disciplines of Engineering and 17 practical fields of vocational training. It will provide the youth of Lyari opportunity of equipping themselves with practical vocational skills and after having these degrees,diploma and certificates they would be able to get jobs in Pakistan and overseas as well.

Speaking on the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the Governor, Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, provincial ministers and the people of Lyari on another important step taken to meet the educational requirements of the people of the area.

The President said that it was the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to provide educational and learning facilities to every youth at their doorsteps and today, the Government of Sindh has taken an important step in this direction.

He said that it was a matter of personal satisfaction for him that the youth of Lyari, especially the girls, were benefiting from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University which was established for the purpose of imparting state-of-the-art, quality education to the youth of the area and to make them outstanding professionals and better human beings.

He said that it was a great achievement of the present Government that after over six decades three new universities have been established in Karachi.

He said that increased population of the metropolis required greater number of universities and educational facilities to meet the educational requirements of its residents.

Vice Chancellor of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari Dr. Rashid A. Shah on the occasion while thanking the President, Sindh Government and all other involved in the establishment of BBSUL and AIVET, said that with the establishment of the institute, around 250 permanent jobs of technicians, helpers, Lab Assistants etc would be created for the benefit of the local people.He said that within six months of the establishment of the Institute, the first batch of vocational certificate holders would be in the market.—APP
