Syrian leadership must keep country’s interest supreme, says Ihsanoglu

Saturday, July 21, 2012 - Jeddah—Following the bloody events which took place in Syria and the continued violence and blood-shed in the country, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu invited once again the Syrian leadership to learn from experience and place the interests of Syria and the Syrian people above all other considerations.

He also emphasized that the preservation of the country’s highest interest requires the leadership to make sacrifices if it is to avoid that Syria slide towards a civil war, with all the dangers and threats it may have on peace and security in the entire region.
