Khyber Agency clinch Fata Football League trophy
Political Agency Bajaur Agency Abdul Jabbar Khan was the chief guest on this occasion.
APA Nawagai Muhammad Tariq Khan, Political Tehsil Dar Khar Abdul Haseeb, President Bajaur Football Association Abdul Hakim, Secretary FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan Shinwari and large number of football spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling final. Before the start of the final match the players of Khyber Agency and Bajaur Agency Red teams were introduced to the chief guest.
The final match was started on fast tempo and both the teams – Khyber Agency and Bajaur Agency Red made some goal-fetching move with forwards of each of the teams shattered rival defence.
Edge by cheering spectators, Bajaur Agency Red first raided the rivals’ territory with a well combine move made by right winger Abdul Manan. Manan travelled past two defenders and even beat the onrushing Khyber Agency goal-keeper Naveed Khan Afridi but failed to convert an easy goal.
The forwards of Bajaur Agency Red comprising Abdul Manan, Hanif Khan, Fazale Subhan and Haroon Khan made some well attacking moves but they were failed to utilize their chances.
It was in the 19th minute when right winger Muhammad Niaz slammed in a beautiful goal through head-in on the cross of left winger Asghar and gave a vital lead to Khyber Agency. It was beautiful cross sent in by left winger Asghar which was nicely taken by Muhammad Niaz to make the tally 1-0.
The lead worked like a tonic as Khyber Agency made incisive rallies of attacks as a result it got two easy chances of scoring but first the attempt of Muhammad Niaz went wide from the goal-post and secondly Sajid Ali’s forceful kick was nicely intercepted by Bajaur Agency Red goal-keeper Munir Khan.
It was in the dying moment when Bajaur Agency Red team found the equalizer through Abdul Manan on the field attempt. Abdul Manan travelled past three defenders and even dodged the Khyber Agency goal-keeper Naveed to kick in a nice goal.
At half-time both the teams were tied 1-1. It was in the second session when both the teams made attacking moves but failed to score any goal and thus in the stipulated 90-minute the match ended 1-1 draw.—APP
