A welcome appointment

Monday, July 16, 2012 - On Wednesday TV channels splashed the appointment of Wajid Durrani as Director General NAB Sindh. Mr Durrani is a retired police officer who served in Sindh/ Karachi for a long time. He belongs to a respectable political family of Sindh. At the fag end of his career Mr Durrani was appointed Inspector General ICT Police and NH& MP in Islamabad. He was lucky to get Grade 22, a few days before his retirement. He is again lucky to get a berth in NAB, an institution that was militarised during the regime of Gen Pervez Musharraf. By opening doors of NAB to professionals, its image will improve in the eyes of public. NAB should be completely demilitarised and depoliticised as a national institution..
