Coal miners strike in Balochistan

Monday, July 16, 2012 - Quetta—Coal miners in Balochistan went on an indefinite strike on Sunday following a wave of killings and kidnappings.

The president of National Labour Federation announced that the coal miners were particularly perturbed after the killing of seven miners and kidnapping of eight others.

There are about 500 coal mines where around 40,000 labourers work round the clock. The coal miners strike would hit hard the industrial sector.
