Dr A Q Khan willing to accept office of caretaker PM
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 - Lahore—Renowned nuclear scientist, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that he will consider the offer seriously if he was invited to take charge as caretaker prime minister. Talking to media persons after holding a meeting with PTI’s chairman Imran Khan in Lahore Tuesday, Dr Qadeer advised the PTI’s chairman, Imran Khan to be soft with the like-minded political parties and make alliance with them.
“There is no room for rigidity in politics and Imran Khan must adopt a soft policy toward other like minded political parties”, he added.
He said real political change could not come in the country through solo flight in politics.
Qadeer Khan reminded that the PPP-PML-Q alliance was possible despite the fact that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto prior to her assassination had nominated Pervez Elahi as her possible murderer. Asif Ali Zardari embraced him in the name of reconciliation.
To a question, he said if former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani failed to hold the ground before the SC verdict then how the incumbent Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf could sustain his position before the apex court.
To another question, he said there was no logic behind passing the contempt of court bill in the National Assembly as it is in conflict with the constitution, adding it was unfair to bulldoze the bill.—INP
