Haqqani accuses Memo Commission of exceeding jurisdiction

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - Islamabad—Pakistan’s former ambassador to United States, Hussain Haqqani on Monday asserted that his right of appeal was affected due to the proceeding of Memo Commission as the Commission exceeded its jurisdiction.

A five-page reply was submitted in the SC by Hussain Haqqani pertaining to Memo commission report.

“The commission challenged my loyalty with Pakistan by violating its jurisdiction as it was assigned to probe the Memo gate,” Haqqani said in his written reply.

Despite several prejudice petitions, the Memo Commission held me responsible for Memo gate in his report, he said.

The Memo commission report was made public in the light of the SC orders two week back.

Meanwhile, a Nine member bench headed by Justice Shakir Ullah Jan will resume the proceeding of the case on July 12. Notices have been issued to all parties in this regard.—Online
