1.5 MW power to electrify more Diamer areas

Thursday, July 05, 2012 - Gilgit—The Gilgit-Baltistan government is harnessing the huge water potential to generate energy and loads of projects are being initiated across the region and one of these, is 1.5 MW project at Muthat Gohar Bad, Diamer.

Officials of water and power department told APP here on Wednesday that this project would help electrify the villages of Diamer district in Gohar Abad area which are without power so far.

They said an estimated cost Rs 300 million which will be spent on completion of the power station, supply lines, installation of machines and than other requirements to generate 1.5 MW.

They further said that this project has been reflected in Annual Development Plan 2012-13 and would be presented in a development forum for fulfillment of formalities to initiate work within no time.—APP
