‘29 %’ people consume polluted water in Held Kashmir
Thursday, July 05, 2012 - Srinagar—Even as the people were complaining about the contaminated tap water, but the government was not acknowledging it. But a survey report exposed the tall claims of the government and revealed “63.9” percent of Jammu and Kashmir population have access to tap water, out of which “66 percent” is receiving untreated tap water, while as only “34 percent” of population have access to treated tap water.
According to the Housing and Household Amenities Cencus-2011 by Directorate of Census Operations Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K state has 20,15,088 number of households. The residents of Watpora, Qazipora of Baramulla and Badgam district also shared the same complaints.—NNI
