Water shortage hits Zhob amid sizzling summer

Thursday, July 05, 2012 - Zhob—Water shortage hit various parts of Zhob, causing immense inconvenience and problems. The residents have been suffering water shortage for the last three weeks and the scorching heat also adding to the woes and miseries. The situation is aggravating with each passing day that water is not available even to drink, as water consumption in sizzling summer increased manifold. Anger and frustration over the water shortage force the people to take to the streets and protest. But the authorities concerned are least interested to resolve the issue.

The residents of Mandokhail Abad, Sheikh town, Nasarabad, Islamyar, Sherani bazaar, Ganj Muhalla and Pirzadah colony told this correspondent that water has not been supplied to their area for the last 18 days and the authorities concerned have failed to ensure the demand of water supply, thus the residents are facing hardships to get water for domestic use as well as for drinking.

“The Public Health Department officials are mum over the situation. A number of complaints have been registered but still they not respond to their hardships and the situation could not be improved”, they added.
