LHC suspends notification till 10th

Thursday, July 05, 2012 - Lahore—The Lahore High Court on Tuesday suspended a notification regarding recovery of processing fee for examination from students of 9th class, till July 10.

Justice Shujaat Ali Khan passed the orders on a petition filed by Khalid Mehmood, President Private Schools Association of Pakistan.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel appearing before the court submitted that the secretary education amended schedule for depositing fee of the examination of 9th class for session 2012-1014 through a notification dated June 5, 2012, in pursuance of the decision of Chairman Punjab Boards committee.

He said that after the amendment students were required to pay Rs 100 extra as processing fee for examination.

He contended that the step was illegal, therefore, directions be issued to set aside the notification.

The respondents counsel sought time to file reply in the matter.

The court accepting the request allowed time to file reply but also suspended the notification for recovery of processing fee till next date of hearing.—APP
