Girls outshine boys in SSC exams
According to the result announced by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) in a ceremony held here Thursday, a total of 64327 candidates appeared in the examination, of which 52326 passed it, with a success rate of 81.34 percent.
Urooj Mustafa (146058) of Jinnah Education System, Taxila Cantt secured first position in Science group with 1024 marks while Irfa Urooj (187023) clinched first position in Humanities group with 946 marks.
In Science group, Moiz Rehan (102360) from Islamabad Model College for Boys bagged second position with 1022 marks and Sana Shahid (151371) from Garrison Academy for Girls, Lahore Cantt obtained third position with 1020 marks.
In Humanities group, Aziz-ul-Haq (170049) from Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad bagged second position with 945 marks and Muhammad Usman (170054) from Institute of Islamic Science, Islamabad secured third position with 932 marks.
A total of 41912 regular candidates appeared in the Science group including 25151 boys and 16761 girls. As many as 38885 students passed the exam giving the success rate of 92.78 percent.
While in Humanities group, 49692 candidates including 1283 boys and 6497 girls appeared in the final exam and 45206 students passed it. The total pass percentage of this group was 90.97 percent.
A total of 8761 ex-private candidates appeared in the Science Group this year including 6525 boys and 2236 girls. 4701 candidates passed the exam thus giving a success rate of 53.66 percent.
While 14635 ex-private candidates appeared in Humanities group including 2981 boys and 2893 girls appeared in the exams.As many as 7120 candidates passed the exam and the pass percentage remained 48.65.
The FBISE has notified that the result cards of the regular candidates have been dispatched to the heads of their respective institutions and those of Ex-Private candidates within country are being sent on the addresses given by them in their admission forms.
The result cards of overseas candidates are being sent to the head of institutions form where they appeared.
The result cards of candidates both regular and private belonging to Gilgit-Baltistan are being sent to the FBISE’s sub office in Gilgit Baltistan.
This year, 21 unfair means cases were reported and 18 cases have been decided through adopting a judicious procedure.
The result was also available on the federal board website at the weblink www.fbise.edu.pk and the candidates can get the results through sms unified code 5050 by sending sms in the following format FB(space)[roll no].
The FBISE will conduct SSC Supplementary Examination 2012 from September 12 (Wednesday).
Addressing the ceremony for announcing the result, Minister for Professional and Technical Training, Sheikh Waqas Akram congratulated the students who have secured top positions this year.
He appreciated the dedication and motivation of girls toward education saying “Girls are leading in both Science and Humanities groups which is very encouraging. This change rejects the misconception that girls are suppressed in this country and are not given much opportunities to made progress in their lives”. The boys who have bagged leading positions have acquired education in the madrassa system which is also criticized by the people.
The minister announced that soon a ceremony will be held to award cash prizes and laptops to the position holders.
Chairperson FBISE Shaheen Khan and other officials of the board attended the ceremony.—APP
