Monday, June 25, 2012 - Peshawar—Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Sunday directed the authorities concerned for acquiring land for proposed Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) campus at Pabbi Nowshera district. Chairing a high level meeting regarding establishment of Pabbi campus of Abdul Wali Khan University here, the minister said that land should be enough which cater the need for upgrading the campus to a university in future. The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University, Dr. Ehsan Ali, DCO Nowshera, Ayaz Mandokhel and other high ranked officers. The meeting reviewed different sites for the Pabbi campus through maps and charts. Mian Iftikhar directed early completion of the legal proceedings regarding acquiring of land for the Pabbi campus. The minister said that education is vital to attain success and glory and without it the dream of progress could not be achieved. He said the provincial government for the first time has allocated 4 per cent of the GDP for education sector while “Stars of Pakhtunkhwa” has been launched to encourage talented students of KPK. He said in areas where government schools were not available, the government would bear the expenses of students reading in private educational institutes. He said the children would not pardon us if quality education was not providing to them. The minister said that government believed in uniform development irrespective of political affiliation and Pabbi campus is being established to provide quality high education to young lots.
