Journalists threaten to spurn official handouts

Monday, June 25, 2012 - Larkana—The Journalist Community threatened to boycott of official handouts; strongly condemned the disgusting behavior and negative attitude of administration and Information Department towards the working media men in Larkana, during the coverage of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf visit to Garhi Khuda Bux here on Sunday. Information Department failed to facilitate major newspaper related working media personals, despite of this non working and government officials were brought at press briefing, before the Prime Minister during the visit at Bhutto family graveyard.

It was a regular practice of district government and Sindh Information Department to avoid the working media personals to facilitate and media coverage, on the occasion. Larkana working media group decided to boycott of all official programs of Pakistan Information Department (PID) and Sindh Information Department (SID) Larkana. Journalists’ community on the occasion held protest meeting against the information department and administration, they held responsible them for anti-media attitude and regularly rejecting the media to hide their inefficiency and corruption in different departments.

Working senior media personals said the officials of district administration and information department creating differences and conspiracies among the media by giving opportunity and support one. Journalists’ community also said that the information department and district administration violating the freedom of expression of media by curbing them, while facilitating non working media group.
