Target killing claim six more lives in Karachi, several injured


Monday, June 25, 2012 - Karachi—Unchecked target killing continues in this metropolis as six more people became victims of the strayed bullets in various areas of the city while several others were left injured.

According to police, unknown assailants shot at and injured one man in Banaras Colony area of Karachi. The injured was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his wounds before getting treatment.

In Baldia Town unknown gunmen opened fire at a shopkeeper identified as Aslam, 23, leaving him critically injured. The injured was rushed to hospital but he expired during treatment.

The police recovered bullet riddled and tortured body of a man from Memon Society area of Lyari. He was identified as Abdul Ghani Soomro.

Three bullet riddled and tortured bodies were recovered from Manghopir and Lyari stream. Police said that the deceased was shot dead after kidnapping them.

At least eight persons were injured in separate incidents of violence in different areas of the city including Liaquatabad, Paposh Nagar, Orangi Town, Kharadar and other areas.

Meanwhile, the people of Karachi have expressed grave concerns over the uncontrolled target killing and performance of security forces to tackle the situation. They urged the provincial and federal governments for taking solid steps to stop the loss of innocent lives in the city.—INP
