Locals raises eyebrows over ‘obscene’ hoarding at TRC
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Srinagar—An ‘obscene’ hoarding erected near the Tourist Reception Centre ground, here, showcasing a couple advertising undergarments of a company ‘Jockey’ has became a problem, passers-by and locals allege. According to the locals, displaying such ‘kind of stuff’ openly in the public that too in a Muslim dominated state is considered ‘obscene’ and the government and advertising agency should immediately pull down the hoarding without wasting any time. “I really can’t understand how come the government gives green signal to such kind of advertisements. The symbolic obscenity and nudity depicted in the advertisement should have been noticed and removed long time back,” said Ghulam Rasool an elderly person, adding, the underwear brand should take immediate steps to remove this hoarding. —NNI
