Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Faisalabad—Despite declining trends in all sectors, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) by winning Islamic Development Bank Science & Technology Award 2012 and a mega project of Center for Advance Studies (Agriculture and Food Security) worth 45 million $ by USAID is touching new horizons of success. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (SI) while addressing the participants of a dinner reception here at Staff Club aiming at recognizing the constructive role of academic and administrative staff of the University. He urged the government to provide funds to Higher Education Commission so that it could meet the daunting challenges posed by power crises, inflation and raised salaries. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan congratulated the academic and administrative staff of the University for getting international S&T award by IDB and winning USAID Center for Advanced Studies (Agriculture and Food Security). Prof. Dr. Sheikh Munir Ahmad president ASA, Prof. Muhammad Jalal Arif Principal Officer PRP, and Syed Qamar Bukhari also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile it is reported that the name of Chak No.4 Ramdewali, Sargodha Road has been changed to Arfa Kareem Abad in recognition of marvelous efforts of world’s youngest prodigy/IT certified professional Arfa Kareem Randhawa. A spokesman of the City District Government told that Arfa Kareem Randhawa belonged to Chak No.4 Ramdewali. She had made tremendous achievement in the IT field.
