Kisan Board to protest prolong loadshedding

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Mandi Bahauddin—Kisan Board and other organizations have decided to arrange protest against persisting power prolong load shedding and increase in electricity prices. The board has appealed to consumers not to pay electricity bills till the load shedding is brought to end. Talking to media men here District Secretary board Saleh Ranjha said that peasants would lay siege around residences of local MNAs and MPAs to press their genuine demand and arrange ‘sit in’ in front of parliament at Islamabad. He said final program for staging protest would be issued within next the three days.
Meanwhile it is reported from Lahore that business community has expressed concern over the loadshedding in the provincial metropolis and asked the government to take measures in controlling energy crisis. In a press statement here Monday, acting chairman PIAF Nadir Kamal Osman, chairman Autoparts Manufacturers & Exporters Association and chairman Lahore Township Industries Association Iftikhar Bashir said that 20 hours load shedding had forced more than 300 industrial units in Township Industrial Area, Lahore to close down operations.
