Court clears Akram of betting allegations


Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Lahore—Former test cricketer, Akram Raza has been cleared of betting allegations on cricket matches by a local court here on Tuesday.

Raza was booked in a betting case few months ago after police raided a betting den and arrested few other people on the same charges. However, the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate Kanwar Anwaar Ali in its judgment said the prosecution has failed to prove any accusations of betting on cricket matches as such the case against Raza stands dismissed.

Raza, 47-year old, during his six-year cricket career from 1989 to 1995 played nine tests and also appeared in 49 ODIs during which he captured 38 wickets.—APP
