Workshop on GSM specification: SMS services

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Rawalpindi—Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Tuesday held a one-day workshop on GSM Specification-SMS Services aimed at helping the students in developing relevant software as part of their thesis.

The workshop was organized by the university’s Department of Software Engineering in collaboration with the Pakistan Engineering Council. Speakers at the seminar he said that GSM Specification comes under the category of mobile communication and it’s a 3rd generation mobile system.

They explained the whole mechanism that how a short message is delivered from one user to another user.

Speakers also discussed the methods, techniques and implementations of the short message service in GSM.

The seminar was also attended by Department of Software Engineering Chairperson, Department of Software Engineering Dr. Shamim Akhter, Department of Software Engineering Tahira Mahboob, Lecturer, and expert Farooq Arif.

A question-answer session was also held in which a number of solutions related to different software problems were discussed with students. Tahira Mahboob thanked speakers for sharing their valuable thoughts and experience with the faculty and students.—APP
