Power shortage

Sheryar Qureshi

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Karachi is the country’s largest city but life has become miserable and painful here due to the shortage of Electricity. For the last few years it has been the victim of chronic load-shedding.

It has known the “The City of Lights” but due to the shortage of electricity the city does not have that feature anymore. Shopkeepers in Karachi markets are now using generators, batteries and UPS. When there’s no electricity people find it uncomfortable and difficult to breathe , children cry in the night sue to heat and suffocation in the absence of electricity and mosquitoes bite spreading malaria and dengue fever. Same is the condition in winter and cold weather when even the usage of electricity is lesser.

Because of load-shedding industries are going in loss, and workers are losing their jobs. Studies of the children are also affected due to load-shedding; They can not prepare themselves for their exam because of there is NO LIGHT in the night, and ofcourse everyone in the city can not afford a generator or UPS expenses.

I request the concerned authorities to take some affective and immediate action in the matter to overcome the problem of Power shortage.
