Punjab Govt laptops
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - Many people have crticised Punjab Government Sasti Roti scheme, Danish Schools and distribution of free laptops. Recently Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said the Punjab government had allocated billions of rupees for the distribution of laptops, but the girls were compelled to study in the graveyard. The Court was also of the view that the Punjab government was spending huge amounts on the construction of Danish schools, but was not providing facilities to other schools. However Transparency International praised Punjab government for following rules in purchasing laptops. It would have been better if Punjab Government would have built digital libraries instead of giving free laptops to students. These digital libraries can be visited by any student and in these digital, libraries students can also be monitored as by giving laptops there is no check whether students are using it for studies or for entrainment.
