Shahbaz announces Youth Policy 2012

Friday, June 08, 2012 - Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while addressing the Youth Convention at Alhamra Cultural Complex Qaddafi Stadium, announced Youth Policy 2012. The Chief Minister said that under this policy, a new programme of distribution of laptops among one lakh twenty five thousand talented students is being launched from July this year.

He said that fifteen percent quota has been reserved for women in government jobs. He said that women employment fund with seed money of two billion rupees is being set up for women to start their own business. The Chief Minister said that internship programme for the graduate and post-graduate students is being launched in the province under which internship would be given to 50 thousand male and female students with an amount of Rs.1.5 billion. Shahbaz Sharif said that Sports Fund would be established with a sum of two billion rupees under Youth Policy which will be the largest sports fund in the history of Punjab and the country.

He said that Youth Tractor Scheme is being launched for the students who completed their education from Agriculture University under which tractors would be provided on concessionary rates to them. He said that the ongoing Youth Skill Development Programme with an amount of four billion rupees by the DFID in Southern Punjab will be expanded to the entire province under which thousands of male and female children will be made skillful by imparting training in various skills. He said that loans of two billion rupees were provided to the unemployed youth through ‘Akhuwat’ last year under Self Employment Scheme. He said that loans of three billion rupees at the rate of Rs.50 thousand per person will be given to the 1.5 lakh youth this year.

The Chief Minister said that full representation would be given to the youth in the local government for bringing them into politics under Youth Policy and five percent quota will be allocated for the youth in local bodies.

Addressing the convention, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that all the resources of Punjab are not only for the talented children of Punjab but are also for the children of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltastan and other provinces as Pakistan is not only Punjab but it consists Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pukhtonkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltastan. The Chief Minister said that the youth are future of Pakistan and the nation has high hopes of them. He expressed the hope that the youths who have obtained laptops will definitely find a formula for elimination of corruption from the country and making it a self-sufficient through their computers.

He said that injustice of federal government has made the lives of the people of Pakistan miserable and they are facing a number of problems. The Chief Minister said that we have to make joint efforts for bringing the nation out of quagmire of problems. He said that if an opportunity of service to the nation was given, they will eliminate the load-shedding in the first six months. He said that if can construct Kalma Chowk Flyover and Canal Flyover within four months and six months respectively, we can also solve the energy problem within six months.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the corrupt rulers looted the resources ruthlessly and due to plundering in the name of the institutions, like Benazir Income Support Programme, fertilizer, NRO and NICL, the country has been plunged into darkness. He said that we will have to remove Ali Baba & Forty Thieves for ridding the country of problems.

Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Secretaries and DGs Sports of four provinces, PML-N leader Marvi Memon and a large number of youth from all over the province attended the youth convention.
