Swiss Consul General hosts dinner for airline official

Thursday, May 17, 2012 - Karachi—The Director, and head of sales for middle east, africa and Pakistan of teh Swiss airline Mr Martin Massuger assured the people of Pakistan that this country was always on the list of resumption of airline flights from Karachi because they think Pakistan an important destination. Unfortunately however, certain obstacles were hindering plans, including those of security, but as soon as these problems are overcome, the Swiss airline will be back to Pakistan, he said at a dinner hosted in his honour by the Swiss Consul general in Karachi Dideo Boschung at his residence here Tuesday night. It was a warm party with travel trade experts, and those connected with aviation industry, including Muhammad Raza, director of the AEG travel services, representing worldwide chain of American Express, Mr Yahya Polani of Polani Travels and the Swiss airline incharge in Pakistan Yasmeen Peerbhoy were there. The russian consul general Andre Demidov, Miss Sharon of US consulate, the French Consul General and the Italian consul general were prominent among those attending.

The Swiss consul general pleaded very strongly for reopening of Swiss airline services to Pakistan, which like all other european alines, have moved their flights from Dubai for Europe and North America. But Dideo said that he was keen for Swiss airline to return to Pakistan.

The chief guest said he shared the anxieties shown by the swiss diplomat, and also by Yameen Peerbhoy to resume services to and from Pakistan for worldwide destinations.However it will take sometime but the day it happens, he will be the happiest man.

He said the Swiss airline, despite disconnection from Karachi, remains the favourite airline for many of the Pakistani travellers which was amatter of immense happiness for him.

The Russian consul general, during informal convesation with this scribe, expressed happiness ove resumption of NATO supplies through Pakistan. He said his country was allowing these supplies to be reouted through Russia but it was causing some problems. Any way he said he was happy that the matter seems to have been resolved finally after few months of problems.

The ceremony was winded up after distribution of awards from Swiss airline to travel agents doing business for the airline. Ten top travel agents were given these awards.
