50 militants die in Khyber agency

Khyber Agency/Islamabad—Security forces in their fresh offensive in different areas of Khyber agency have killed more than 50 terrorists and also destroyed their headquarters Swati Markaz. The bodies of two army officers who were martyred in helicopter crash incident have been handed over to their legal heirs.

Brigadier Hussain Abbas, who led the rescue operation after a gunship helicopter crashed near village Nangrosa of Tirah Valley, also laid to rest in graveyard of Jalal Pur near Bhimber. On the other hand, official authorities have also released a detail of daring rescue action and historical valour of Brigadier Hussain Abbas.

Official and military sources informed Online that a gunship helicopter of Pakistan army crashed near village Nangrosa, Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency while returning to the base after a successful operation in which Swati Markaz that had been the headquarters of terrorists was completely destroyed on February 10.

During the attack, about 30 terrorists were also killed. Pilot Major Mudassir Razzak and Co-Pilot Captain Asam Karim Khan also embraced Shahadat.

Brigadier Hussain Abbas a resilient soldier and bold commander after carrying out a quick analysis of the situation ordered a rescue operation to recover the fallen comrades in the operation area.

Helicopter had crashed in a terrain, which was dominated by terrorists from all around and rescue team personally led by Brigadier Hussain was dropped in the area by helicopters, sources added. Lieutenant Ansar Khalil with his soldiers leapt to rescue the bodies of Major Mudassir and Captain Ansar. Terrorists waiting as cowards engaged the Rescue party from all sides and also targeted hovering helicopters providing cover to the rescue party.

Area immediately turned into an intense battlefield, soldiers though less in number than terrorists displayed the historical valour to fight back the cowards attacking from the hide.—Online
