Porn culture..!

Robert Clements

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 - As Valentine’s Day approaches I remember the face of a Pramod Muthalik, an anti-Valentine activist from Karnataka who received immense pleasure in saying that intimate gestures of love were not our culture.

He went about slapping couples and burning cards expressing love sentiments, till some enterprising girl along with others, sent him pink chaddis and he stopped his antics for awhile. I guess with two ministers in his state and party caught viewing pornographic clips, we now know what he meant by his culture. I imagine that I catch sight of the same man and hurry up to him:

“So sir you are much against couples expressing their love for each other especially on Valentines Day?” “It is not our Indian culture, this hugging and kissing and giving cards.” “And what do you think of your two ministers viewing porn, in the Karnataka Assembly?” “Three!” “I’m sorry, three ministers!” “Yes they are the true heroes of our nation!” “Watching porn?” “Is realism! Kissing, sending Valentine cards, all hypocrisy! Women should be as in those video clips our men were watching!”

“I guess that’s why your party made one of them Minister for Women and Child Welfare!” “We think very far ahead, unlike other parties!” “Do you have any plans for this Valentine’s Day?” “Of course! The same! We will catch any couple exchanging rings or cards or hugs and thrash them. We will also burn cards and break the fronts of those shops who display such vulgarity!” I left him as I saw one of the minister’s who had been caught: “Ex-Minister sahib, aren’t you ashamed?” “Why should I? I was just educating myself!” “Is this the education you give yourself as Minister of Women and Child Welfare?” “One has to always study his subject in detail. How else can I study my ministry except by seeing it totally exposed?” “You have been stripped off your ministership sir!” “They will reinstate me. Just wait and see. I am a hero to my party and the people. Okay I have to go!” “Where to sir?”

“To join my friends and burn Valentine cards, break the windows of shops, and thrash couples who are indulging in things which are against our culture.” “And what sir is your culture?” “Didn’t you watch me on TV? That is my culture..!”
