A grandfather speaks up..!
The old man, the grandfather, sitting near the window turned to his family, “Maybe we need to really rethink what this year has been,” he said. “Rethink what granddad?” asked his grandson. “Rethink that I could have got a promotion and we could have been living better? Rethink what?”
His grandfather smiled, “Let us spend a few quiet moments,” he said, “Let’s do our part to thank God.... for all His visible and invisible blessings upon our lives.... Lets thank God because; You can still breathe without aid or mechanical assistance.
You my children have a roof over your head and not under one of the bridges. Your two legs can still carry your body wherever you want to go. Your skin is not covered up by some strange skin disease. Your ears are not supported with hearing aids. Let us thank God that, your sight is not impaired in any manner, I do wear glasses, but I am not blind!
With enough food to get by the day we are still alive and healthy. With so much issues you deal with daily you can still smile and look good daily Every day comes with its craziness and demands yet our sanity is intact. You sleep and wake up with ease to appreciate nature in all its beauty. Your digestive system functions with the ease at which it was meant without the support of a machine. Your appetite is very healthy with no issues.
Your teeth, including my aged ones, are still able to grind food, tough bones and all other chewable food. Sickness put us to bed but could not put any of us to an early grave. With all your many trips from your home to office, within the country and overseas accidents was not your portion even when it did happen you came out alive. So far no bullet has your name on it either from the Police or terrorists. In spite of the economic downturn we still have home and each other
And despite all the challenges and disappointments we suffered none of us even felt like committing suicide, on the contrary we are still alive and standing and what to thank God for every little thing he has given us, which we as usual tend to forget. There were tears of joy in each member of that family as they expressed their thanks to the One above..!
