Talking to APP he said that all out efforts are being made for the facilitation of citizens besides solid steps have also been taken to CHECK fake registration.
He said, so far nearly 50,000 vehicles’ record has been computerized while the task is rapidly being completed with day and night shifts of staff concerned.
ETO said random checking of vehicles’ registration record is being made and due to the steps taken to enhance revenue, more than Rs 20 million enhanced revenue has been collected during first quarter of this financial year. Excise and Taxation Department is making all out efforts for an efficient, transparent, safe and secure convenient system of registration and transfer of vehicles in the city.
He said, “We are trying to facilitate the general public visiting Excise and Taxation office for registration and transfer of their vehicles in an efficient manner.”
He informed that after completion of the task, no paper file record would be maintained in the office. Malik Shehzad said that recently a new scam of fake registration of vehicles has been unearthed by Excise and Taxation office Rawalpindi under which the stolen files of Islamabad Excise Office were being used to get registration of stolen vehicles in various cities.
He said, three files of official vehicles of government department, Anti-dumping Authority were stolen from Islamabad Excise and Taxation Office and sent to different cities for the registration of stolen vehicles. The files were used in Mardan, Peshawar and Rawalpindi to get registered the stolen vehicles. —APP
