Commissioner directs compiling directory for demarcation, protection of land


Rawalpindi—Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Azmat Mehmood has directed for compiling ‘Estate Land Director’ for demarcation and protection of government land in Rawalpindi Division.
He also asked Forest Officers to undertake all possible measures to protect forest land from all sort of damages. He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of Forest Officers, held here.
ACG Arif Rahim, Assistant Commissioner General Tariq Basra, Chief Conservator Forests Zia Ullah Azmat, Conservator Forests Athar Shah Khaga, DFO South Chaudhry Ijaz, DFO, Murree Wajhe un Din, DFO North Iftikhar ul Haq Farooqi, Sub Divisional Forest Officer Raja Manzoor attended the meeting. Commissioner Rawalpindi asked for strict implementation of laws to prevent forests from encroachment and land grabbers.
He stressed for proper remedial measures to control landslides especially along Murree Express Way.
He said that green cover should be protected on mountains to combat the environmental hazards.
The Commissioner inquired about the protection mechanism of Reserved, Protected and Forests areas and asked that a detailed report should be prepared depicting the details of plantation projects.
The Chief Conservator Forests Zia Ullah Azmat briefed about the efforts of forest staff engaged to protect forest areas and said that a large forest area has been reclaimed from encroachers.
He also gave details of plantation activities.—APP
