Academicians Monday said, parliamentary studies should be treated as a discipline of social sciences. They ex-pressed this view while attending a 3-day training programme at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS).
While addressing the participants, the Speaker spoke of his initiatives regarding parliamentary diplomacy, austerity drive in the expenditure of the secretariat, energy audit, capacity building and electrification of Parliament building on solar energy.
The other initiatives were introduction of courses on Parliament’s working developing research unit at National Assembly and formation of Legislative Drafting Council (LDC). The training programme is being attended by 36 faculty members from 22 institutions from all over Pakistan.
The Inaugural session concluded with a group photo of participants with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq who expressed his hopes that the training will result in substantive and valuable outputs from academia.
