Burney demands release of Shahzad

Chairman of the Sarem Burney Welfare Trust, Sarem Burney has demanded immediate release of former MQM leader Saleem Shahzad, saying he was suffering from cancer, and needed to be treated on humanitarian ground, rather than as political prisoner.
In a statement, he reminded the Governor, the chief minister, the Home secretary, and all those who matter that Shazad was suffering from a deadly diseases, which if denied prompt attention, may cause his death.
It was therefore necessary to treat his case on humanitarian grounds rather than for political reasons.
Saleem Shahzad whose original name is Saleemul Haq, was arrested soon after arriving in Pakistan from abroad and since then his bail please have been rejected. He continues to be incarcerated.
