Apropos a letter published in the “Voice of the People” segment of Daily Pakistan Observer titled “Irregularities in BISP” on September 09, 2016, it is clarified that in 2015, BISP conducted Data Sanity Exercise of its 1.58 million beneficiaries and as a result payment to 125,714 beneficiaries was blocked on the basis of wrong updates.
However, it was felt that some record may have been marked as suspicious due to lack of information in BISP and NADRA database; therefore a Review Committee was formed to review such cases on the basis of documentary evidence provided by the beneficiaries.
The case of Baz Bibi CNIC 1401-3035557-4, referred to in the said letter, was posted on Minister of State and Chairperson BISP MNA Marvi Memon’s Twitter account by Mr. Waqas Bangash, a relative of Baz Bibi. He was called by BISP case management team in June 2016 and asked to submit required documents. He was further requested to provide some additional documents in July 2016. Documents were checked and her case was presented before committee in August 2016. Her case No. HQ-19 has been cleared by Review Committee and has been resolved. She will be able to draw her payment in next quarter.
It is informed that all such cases are being dealt in time without any delay. Moreover, in a unique customer service gesture of BISP, Chairperson Marvi Memon takes live calls in a Radio Pakistan programme on weekly basis. 90% of the cases are resolved during the show whereas rest of the cases are resolved within a week and complainants are informed accordingly.
