Keeping in view the unprecedented power outages in the country, the inauguration of 1,180 MW Bhikki Power Plant brings hope for this dismal nation who is facing more than 8 hours of load shedding in some parts of the country. There is no doubt that government is leaving no stone unturned to meet the energy needs of country and to attain this objective it has initiated many energy projects like Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, Sahiwal Coal Fired Power Plant etc. but to the surprise of many, with occasional blackouts plight of people is increasing with each passing day.
Electricity is indispensable and essential for the socio-economic development of Pakistan. Therefore, for ‘energy starved Pakistan’ the inauguration of Bhikki Power Plant is another hope. Moreover, completion of this gas power plant in mere 18 months is a world record in itself. It is pertinent to mention here that it was Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif who through his untiring efforts wooed the support from his cabinet colleagues in overcoming the hurdles related to Bhikki Power Plant and materialized this dream into reality. INSHAALLAH, that day is not far when darkness will eventually vanish from this country and our future generations start living in a brighter Pakistan.
