Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has said that the emergency unit of special child care ward in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) will be made operational by the end of this year.
He hoped that in next next six months around 45 percent children can be saved by having a good emergency ward, said a statement on Monday.
He said he felt bad when visited ASH after taking charge of Mayor and it would be a gift to citizens if we could make it a better hospital.
He said this while addressing a ceremony held in the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Monday for the signing of the MoU regarding child health care and setting up of special ward for children.
Mayor Wasim Akhtar and chief executive of Child Life Foundation Dr Ahsan signed the document whereas municipal commissioner Nasim Nawaz, financial advisor Asghar Abbas, senior director medical services Dr Muhammad Ali Abbasi, chairman health Abdus Samad, director general works Shahab Anwer were also present on this occasion.
