APHC denounces detainees shift to outside valley jails

Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference while expressing serious concern over the shifting of the people illegally detained from different parts of the Kashmir Valley to far flung jails of Jammu region has termed the action as the worst form of state terrorism.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the PDP-BJP regime is targeting the whole populace as it is frustrated by the current mass uprising in the territory. He said that the puppet authorities had crossed all its inhuman and brutal tactics to suppress the people in the occupied territory – which had witnessed a brute and criminal face of the Indian state in the past 100 days – and now they had started shifting the under-trial detainees to outside the Kashmir Valley.
The spokesman said that recently Hakim Showkat Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad Paul, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Bashir Ahmad Najar, Abdul Hamid Mir, Aaqib Ahmad Mir and others were shifted to Poonch and Rajouri jails in Jammu. He said that previously senior Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, was also shifted to Kathua jail in Jammu.
“This shifting doesn’t have any justification and is being done out of political vengeance. Supreme Court of India has passed a ruling that a detainee should be held in the nearest jail to his home and an under-trial should never be shifted to any other place, because he can’t reach the court on every hearing which will prolong his detention,” the statement said.
The APHC spokesman strongly denounced the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) against people. “This law has been termed as lawless law by the Amnesty International while world bodies have rejected the prolonged imprisonment of any person in the name of preventive custody. But this draconian law is very commonly used in Jammu and Kashmir to curb the genuine voices of the people. Neither any trial is held against them nor any proper reason is given for their detention,” he said.
The APHC appealed to the world community to raise its voice against the unabated use of the PSA by the puppet authorities in the occupied territory.—KMS
