Karachi—The next anti-polio drive in the metropolis will be held from October 24.This was decided at a meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the impact of the six-day anti-polio campaign in the city that was conducted from October 1. A detailed briefing was given on the occasion and satisfaction was expressed by the participants of the meeting. It was decided that the next anti-polio drive would be conducted from October 24. It would be carried out in all the 188 union councils in the metropolis and over 2.3 million children would be administered polio drops on the occasion. The Commissioner said on the occasion that elimination of polio was a national objective. He also appealed to the parents to extend full support in order to safeguard the future of their children. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Health Secretary, Muhammad Usman Chachar, provincial coordinator of the Oversight Committee, Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Fayyaz Ali Jatoi, Dr. Nusrat Ali, Town health Officers, representatives of World Health Organization and UNICEF.
