Anti-polio campaign begins in 14 districts of Punjab

Anti-polio campaign has begun in fourteen districts of Punjab under aegis of Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. According to Radio Pakistan, the teams of the drive would go door-to-door and administer polio drops to over eight million children with age below five years.
These districts are Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Ralwalpindi,Rahimyar Khan, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, Lodhran, TobaTek Singh, Vehari, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal. Security has been tightened for the polio teams and policemen are deployed with them.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Larkana Khasif Ali Tipu will preside over meeting regarding District EPI Acceleration and Polio Eradication Committee(DPEC) to discuss anti polio Campaign arrangements and plan strategies on Friday. This was disclosed by the District Health Officer Larkana on Thursday.
He said that a Four-day polio eradication campaign will start from March 20, 2017 in Larkana district. He said that parents, ulemas, teachers, elected representatives and the media can play a vital role in this national task by creating awareness and cooperating with the health staff in administration of polio drops to children up to 5 years age.—APP
