All DHQ hospitals to have dental units

Lahore—Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that dental health units are being established in all the DHQ hospitals during the current financial year. He said that revamping of all DHQ hospitals is being carried out at a cost of Rs.5.20 billion this year.
He stated this while addressing an awareness seminar regarding dental and oral health, arranged by a toothpaste manufacturing company at Dental Outdoor Department in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, today. Besides, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Nauman Matloob, Incharge Dental Section Dr. Asim Farooqi, representatives of the company, Dr. Farzana Nazir MPA, Prof. Mumtaz and other senior doctors, nurses were present in the function. Dr. Nauman Matloob informed that dental department of SGRH is being upgraded and new machines would be installed very soon.
Kh. Salman Rafiq said, that though the oral and dental diseases produce so many health hazards, however, it is commonly observed that people do not care about dental health. Kh. Salman Rafiq said that healthy body needs healthy teeth. He said that government is focusing on prevention programme to control diseases through which expenditures occurring on curative part could be reduced. He lauded the efforts of private company for creating dental health awareness among the masses and said that corporate sector should come forward to fulfill their social responsibily for creating a healthy society.
