Nine E-Khidmat Centres have become operational in different districts of the province where 452,000 people have been provided services so far. This was stated by advisor to Punjab Chief Minister and Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr Umar Saif here on Saturday.
In an exclusive talk with APP, he said that that services of 17 government departments are available at these centers under one roof. He said that the E-Khidmat Centres would be established in all districts and tehsils of Punjab soon.
He said that the PITB projects have brought about a revolution of good governance in Punjab through technology and smartphone application. It has not only increased revenue and strengthened the economy but also reduced chances of tax evasion.
Dr Saif further said that PITB projects were being acknowledged at international level as PITB, after automation of country’s Hajj Operation, is now developing the Hajj Operations of Nigeria on their request while eVacca, police and other sectors’ replica was being extended to other province including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
In the first phase, another e-Khidmat centre were set up at Arfa IT Tower Lahore while work on the same project in Faisalabad, Gujranawala, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan, Dr Saif told the chief secretary.
In second phase, such centres will be established at district and tehsil level, he added. The chief secretary appreciated the PITB chairman and his team for promotion of IT in the province.—APP
