Peshawar—At least four people including men in uniform were seriously injured when a suicide bomber from Afghanistan blew himself up after he was intercepted by the security personnel at Pak-Afghan border in Kurram agency Friday afternoon.
On the other hand the Frontier Police foiled a terror attempt when it defused half a dozen hand grenades in the outskirts of Peshawar Friday morning.
Reports reaching here said a suicide bomber was reportedly crossed into Pakistani territory from Afghanistan when he was intercepted by the FC personnel posted at Kharlachi check post. The bomber detonated his explosive laden Jacket injuring four people near the security post.
“The suicide attacker was trying to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan and detonated his explosive-laden vest when he was stopped at the border by FC
personnel. Four people including Frontier Corps men were injured in the attack”. The security sources said. Those injured include two FC jawaans though unconfirmed report say an officer of the Para-military force was also included among the wounded persons.
Reports say contingents of security forces rushed to the site of explosion and cordoned off the area as the rescue officials shifted the victims to the hospital for treatment.
Earlier in the morning the Peshawar Police foiled a terror bid by defusing as many as five hand grenades in Peshawar’s Mattani area.
According to Additional Inspector General Bomb Disposal Squad Shafqat Malik, the hand grenades were recovered from a field near the Mattani police station in the outskirts of provincial metropolis during a search operation. The Bomb Disposal officials later successfully defused the recovered grenades.
The Governor Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Zafar Iqbal Jhagra has strongly condemned the suicide explosion in Kharlachi Gate check-post.
In a statement issued here Friday the KP governor observed that such kind of incidents could not deter the resolve of the security forces as well as the nation in fight against terrorism adding the sacrifices of the valiant security forces would not be allowed to go waste.
He said the entire nation stood side by side the security forces in war against terror and the terrorists would be chased till they meet their logical end.
