Peshawar— A roadside explosion targeting the security forces vehicle in the provincial metropolis Tuesday morning left at least three men in uniform killed and eight others seriously wounded.
Officials say the FC vehicle was on routine patrolling in the Bashir Abad area of Peshawar when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) hit their vehicle.
The explosion badly damaged the vehicle and a nearby rickshaw.
Police and security forces rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area as the victims were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where the doctors pronounced them dead.
According to the Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operations 1kg of locally-made explosives were used in the IED blast that created panic and harassment in the populated area.
According to officials the FC personnel who were assigned duties on the eve of Chehlum of Imaam Hussein (RA) on Monday to ensure foolproof security, were returning to their barracks on Tuesday morning when they were targeted by the unknown terrorists.
Some reports say they were standing near their vehicle when an Improvised Explosive Device, planted at the roadside was detonated with the help of remote controller.
The Police are yet to get any vital clue to narrow down on the culprits who remained at large till the filing of this report. The security forces are also reported to have kicked off search operation in the adjoining area.
