209 women torture cases reported


Multan—As many as 209 cases of torture against women were reported in the Shaheed Benazir Women Crisis Centre (SBWCC), Multan during the current year. This was stated by manager Shaheed Benazir Women Crisis Centre Samara Sheeren while talking to APP here on Monday.
She said that most of the cases had been reported on domestic disputes while others were tortured, harassment cases. She said that various homeless women submitted applications for residential accommodation in different welfare centers.
She said that the center tried to resolve issues with negotiations between both parties and used to shift women of tortured cases in Darrul Aman. She said that some of the women avoided to register complaints due to social pressure that became a major factor in increasing these incidents.—APP
