Overwhelming response for IDEAS 2012

Karachi—There has been an overwhelming response from all over the world regarding the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2012. The event would take place from November 7 to 11 at the Expo Centre Karachi. The preparations are underway for the holding of this mega event aimed at promoting business opportunities in Defence Sector of Pakistan, in a befitting manner. The second Steering Committee Meeting for 7th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2012) was held at Expo Center here on Wednesday.

Concerted efforts stressed to eradicate polio

Karachi—Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas has emphasised the need for taking concerted efforts to eradicate polio. He was presiding over a meeting in his office here on Wednesday regarding the matters pertaining to the Sindh Health Department. Raja Abbas directed the Secretary Health that far-reaching measures should be taken to eradicate the polio.

President asks PRCS to enhance its capacity to handle natural disasters

Karachi—President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday called upon Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to further enhance its capacity for broadening the scope of its humanitarian activities and also to serve the humanity in case of any disaster at national as well as international level. During a specially convened extra ordinary general meeting of PRCS here at Bilawal House, the President said that the ever-changing socio-economic, cultural and political scenarios of society with many emerging challenges demand greater role from an organization which is dedicated to serve humanity in accordance with its fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.

Cop among three gunned down

Karachi—Four people, including a policeman and a woman, were shot dead in different acts of violence in the city on Wednesday. According to the police, a 25-year-old young man, Abdul Rahim was gunned down in Faqir Colony, Orangi Town. The incident was a result of personal enmity, police added. A woman was also killed in the city. A policeman was killed in gunfire attack by dacoits in the city area of Malir early. According to police, they received a report regarding the presence of dacoits in a house located in Gharibabad area of Malir.
