PM wants medicines availability at affordable pricesStaff Reporter Islamabad—Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Monday directed Federal Minister for National Regulation and Service Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan to ensure availability of medicines to people at affordable prices. Talking to Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House here, Raja Pervez Ashrf appreciated the preparedness on part of the Red Crescent Society in collaboration with international volunteer and charity organizations, to meet emergency due to the anticipated heavy rains and floods in monsoon.
Medium flood in River KabulStaff Reporter Peshawar—The Flood Forecasting Cell (FFC) on Monday here reported medium flood in River Kabul at Warsak and River Adezai at Adezai Bridge with water discharge of 66820 cusecs and 51800 cusecs respectively. Similarly, Indus River at Khariabad, River Swat at Khwazakhela, River Kurram at Kurram Gari Head works and River Naguman at Charsadda Road, are flowing normally. IRSA releases 354,543 cusecs from rim stations: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Monday released 354,543 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 459,283 cusecs.
Farida killing condemnedStaff Reporter Peshawar—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain condemned killing of renowned Human Rights activist Farida Afridi and said that anti-women elements in the province would be dealt with iron hands.
Addressing a protest camp set up by Aurat Foundation here outside Cantonment Railway station on Monday, he said that some anti-Islamic elements were creating bad name to the country and religion as well by issuing death-decrees against the women, who he added were just earning livelihoods for their families. He said that investigation of the murder had been started and the killers behind the heinous crime would be traced soon.
‘Khan’s Tsunami dream to shatter soon’Faisalabad—Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on Monday said that the announcement of ‘Tsunami Khan’ to contest election against Mian Nawaz Sharif is ridiculous. Talking to media persons outside the General Hospital, Rana Sanaullah said that Imran Khan cannot even win union council elections, adding that if the advisor on interior affairs has any proof against Mian Nawaz Sharif, then why he couldn’t contact the court. He said Rehman Malik was trying to hide his own corruption.Partly cloudy, chances of light rainIslamabad—The Met office on Monday forecast a partly cloudy weather with chances of light rain in most parts of country for next 24 hours. Light rain is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas division of Sindh and Makran Coast, Multan and its suburbs. It added mainly hot and dry weather is expected to prevail elsewhere in the region. Bringing the much-awaited respite from blistering summer heat, the first monsoon shower made its way to the various cities on Saturday. |
